The WWE Royal Rumble (2023) aired live from inside the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, and it did not fail to disappoint. The action included Cody Rhodes and Rhea Ripley winning the men’s and women’s Royal Rumble matches, along with so much more.

We updated the information below to provide the results of the Royal Rumble card (you can see which of our predictions were correct and which were off).

Men’s Royal Rumble Betting Odds – What Were the Odds

It will likely not surprise most fans that Cody Rhodes has the top odds to win the men’s Royal Rumble Match.
Cody Rhodes was massively popular before he suffered a torn pectoral muscle, and he won even more fans over during that Hell in a Cell match last July.
But Sami Zayn having the second-best betting odds of winning the men’s Royal Rumble match will likely surprise some, along with The Rock.
The Rock was the odds-on favorite until the recently updated betting odds put him with the third-best odds to win.
Women’s Royal Rumble Betting Odds – What Were the Odds

>> Place your WWE bet at BetOnline.
Rhea Ripley has the best odds of winning the women’s Royal Rumble, according to Vegas.
Becky Lynch has the second-best odds of winning, and Charlotte Flair has the third-best odds to win the Royal Rumble.
Either Becky Lynch or Rhea Ripley winning the women’s Royal Rumble match makes sense, but the betting odds of Charlotte Flair stand out. As fans know, per WWE tradition, the two match winners earn a title shot at WWE WrestleMania.
Since Charlotte Flair is the SmackDown Women’s champion, the fact that she has the third-best odds to win the women’s Royal Rumble match is peculiar.
This implies the oddsmakers think Charlotte Flair will drop the title in the near future or that she will be the rare champion to compete in the Rumble.
There are plenty of other ways to bet on the men’s and women’s Royal Rumble matches, and we cover what we believe are the best bets below, along with providing a detailed analysis of all the confirmed matches, and we take a quick look at how the Royal Rumble betting odds work.
The lines listed above are the latest betting odds for the Royal Rumble at the time of writing.
Of course, there is a chance that there will be updated betting odds as more storylines play out ahead of the event and more rumors trickle in.
If you want to skip our analysis and predictions below to take advantage of these odds right now, simply head to BetOnline to unlock a wealth of WWE Royal Rumble 2023 betting opportunities.
Bray Wyatt Edges LA Knight – Mountain Dew Pitch Black Match
Aside from it being fodder to plug Mountain Dew’s new upcoming flavor, Pitch Black, not much is known about this contest. LA Knight recently shed some light on this matter, which we cover below.
Bianca Belair Successfully Defends – WWE Raw Women’s Championship
This Royal Rumble match is a complicated situation, booking-wise, so it’s interesting that the oddsmakers have this one set so high for Bianca Belair. We’ll take a closer look at this one in a bit.
Roman Reigns Retains the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship
If this match were booked four years ago, the betting odds would likely be closer. But in 2023, Roman Reigns is over big time as a dominant heel champion and Kevin Owens, having many previous championship opportunities, has grown a bit stale.
Plus, the rumored dream match between Reigns and The Rock at WrestleMania certainly lends to these massive odds.
However, Roman Reigns is not our winning pick for this bout, and we reveal below on why picking this longshot isn’t as out-of-left-field as it sounds.

WWE Royal Rumble 2023 Betting Odds Explained
If it’s your first time betting on a WWE event, looking at the latest betting odds for the Royal Rumble may be perplexing at first.
Just follow the quick guide below to easily learn how to read the Royal Rumble odds, and you’ll be betting on WWE events like a pro in no time.
Betting odds are presented as negative (such as -100) and positive (such as +200) numbers. In a wrestling match, negative betting odds are assigned to the winning favorite, and the underdog wrestler has positive betting odds.
For instance, BetOnline has Bray Wyatt as the odds-on favorite to win against LA Knight in San Antonio, Texas.
The latest betting odds for this contest is Bray Wyatt with -2000 odds and LA Knight with +700 underdog odds.
These odds are based on $100 bets, scaled to the amount wagered. If you were to bet on Bray Wyatt to win, for example, you would have to wager $2,000 for a chance to win a profit of $100 ($2,100 total).
Or, if you were to bet that LA Knight will (somehow) win, a $100 bet would stand the chance of winning $700.
For the men’s and women’s Royal Rumble matches, the odds work in the same manner.
Cody Rhodes remains the odds-on favorite to win the Rumble with -160 betting odds, so you would have to wager $160 on “The American Nightmare” for a chance to win a $100 profit.

WWE Royal Rumble 2023: Beginners Guide
WWE Royal Rumble May Mark The Fiend’s Rebirth
Though some fans have grown concerned over the past several weeks, we now know that the slow-burn build of Bray Wyatt has undergone since his WWE return is leading to a big payoff, which will likely happen this Saturday in San Antonio, Texas.
Given the recent happenings on SmackDown over the past two weeks, which marked the return of the Firefly Funhouse, it looks like there is a good chance that The Fiend, or the new manifestation of that character, will return at the Royal Rumble to wreak havoc on LA Knight.
LA Knight Briefly Discusses Facets of the Pitch Black Match
On a recent episode of Corey Graves’ podcast, WWE After the Bell, LA Knight briefly revealed a little of what we can expect in his Pitch Black fight with Bray Wyatt at the Royal Rumble on January 28.
“Every indication I’ve been given is that this is going to be a kick-ass street fight and be kind of in the dark. I don’t know what the lighting is going to be, how it’s going to work, what other kinds of factors or elements are going to be…”
This sounds like it could be a cinematic-like match that’s similar to the production style of the AJ Styles-Undertaker and Fiend-John Cena matches from WrestleMania 36.
But regardless of the lack of details, if weapons and the new incarnation of The Fiend are involved, WWE practically has to book Bray Wyatt destroying LA Knight and going over.
Pitch Black Match: Bray Wyatt vs. LA Knight Pick
- Bray Wyatt (-2000)
While there isn’t a realistic path for Bray Wyatt to lose the Pitch Black match, anything could happen (it is pro-wrestling, after all). Plus, we don’t even know the rules of a Pitch Black match, which would be very important to us before we pony up our cash at -2000 odds.
Updated Results: To no surprise, Bray Wyatt did win the first-ever Pitch Black match, though the Fiend did not make a return (yet). Wyatt continues to tease the return of the Fiend, so maybe we will see the demonic character return at WrestleMania for Bray’s match against Bobby Lashley.

Alexa Bliss Retains the Raw Women’s Title
The Firefly Funhouse theme continues with Alexa Bliss. Before Bray Wyatt left WWE in July 2021 because of creative differences involving his character, The Fiend was mystically persuading Bliss to join the Firefly Funhouse troupe.
Once Bray got out of Dodge, Bliss was no longer the supposed Sister Abigail and transformed back into her former self.
But it didn’t take long for the story to pick up where it left off after Wyatt’s WWE return.
This puts the WWE in a tight spot: Bliss losing clean to Belair won’t do much for her new persona but at the same time, Bianca still needs to remain a strong champion heading into WrestleMania.
We think that either the match will end in a schmohz due to outside interference from Uncle Howdy and company, leading to either the contest being thrown out or DQ victory for Belair.
Raw Women’s Championship: Bianca Belair vs. Alexa Bliss Pick
- Bianca Belair (-1000)
Updated Results: Bianca Belair successfully retained the WWE Raw Women’s Championship after delivering her patented K.O.D., and after the match Uncle Howdy mocked Alexa Bliss from the TitanTron by asking, “Do you feel in charge?”

Roman Reigns Defeats Kevin Owens
Taking the WWE title off of Reigns to put it on Owens would be, to be polite, questionable judgment by the WWE.
A former WWE title holder himself, Owens has had plenty of championship opportunities, so this wouldn’t exactly be exciting for fans moving forward.
The real story here is Kevin Owens and his estranged friend, Sami Zayn, who will likely turn face very soon.
Undisputed WWE Universal Championship: Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens Pick
- Kevin Owens (+1000)
Of course, Roman Reigns could easily be booked to win this match. But we think a different scenario is going to take place and one that won’t affect the dream match between Reigns and The Rock for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania.
While we feel there is no chance Kevin Owens leaves the Royal Rumble as champion, we do think there is a solid chance he will win the bout.
Sami Zayn turning face while costing Roman Reigns the match in the process would get a huge pop.
If Sami Zayn were to cost Roman Reigns a defeat by count out or disqualification, “The Head of the Table” would remain the champion. In this way, it would also add depth to the rivalry.
And Kevin Owens, with +1000 odds ($100 to win $1,000), means a small bet could go a long way, so the risk is minimal.
Updated Match Results: Roman Reigns retained the WWE Undisputed title by defeating Kevin Owens with a spear (after some shenanigans, of course).
The post-match angle in which Sami Zayn got kicked out of the Bloodline, after refusing to clobber Kevin Owens with a chair, was fantastic; not only did it elicit a huge, defiant reaction from the crowd, but it also saw Jey Uso refuse to participate in the beating.
Men’s and Women’s WWE Royal Rumble Bouts: Best Bets and Predictions
Men’s Royal Rumble Match Picks

Below are our top two picks for who will win the men’s Royal Rumble match, in order of our strongest bets.
Cody Rhodes remains the odds-on favorite to win the Royal Rumble and face the WWE champion at WrestleMania.
But our sources have reason to believe that The Rock is still penciled in to win the Rumble, which would lead to the dream match between him and Roman Reigns for the WWE Championship at ‘Mania.
During a recent episode of Raw, in a video package, “The American Nightmare” announced that he is indeed returning by participating in the men’s Royal Rumble. And fans were treated to another video promo during Raw 30.
Even though fans were expecting the return of “The American Nightmare” in San Antonio, the WWE would never announce a major return ahead of the Royal Rumble unless there was even a bigger surprise.
And every time the WWE has announced a surprise name before the Royal Rumble event, said wrestler does not go on to win the Royal Rumble match.
We believe The Rock is the major surprise for the men’s Royal Rumble match and all the rumors stating otherwise are Red Herrings put out by the WWE (like they have done so many times before, especially for the Royal Rumble).
Furthermore, we have reason to believe that Cody Rhodes will win the next MITB, so he’ll get his title shot using the contract in the briefcase.
Plus, we don’t think the WWE included all the Rock-like lightning in the graphics of the Royal Rumble poster simply because it looks cool.
If we are off on this one and it’s not The Rock, we agree with the betting lines in assigning Sami Zayn the second-best odds to win the men’s Royal Rumble match.
Sami Zayn is as over with the fans now as he was in NXT, and, despite the betting odds, it would still come as a surprise to most fans if he won the Royal Rumble match.
Updated Men’s Royal Rumble Match Results
Well, we were off on this one. Uniquely, breaking their own unwritten rules of the last several decades, Cody Rhodes was indeed the winner of the Royal Rumble after weeks of rumors and video packages pumped up his return to the WWE.

Women’s Royal Rumble 2023 Match Picks

We covered the plan for Rhea Ripley to face Bianca Belair at WrestleMania above, but we think Rhea will get to “The Granddaddy of Them All” by other means than the women’s Royal Rumble.
In February, we will be treated to the Elimination Chamber, which we think is a much better platform for Rhea Ripley to shine while showing us how dangerous she can be.
Some fans believe Ronda Rousey will win the women’s Royal Rumble match, but rumor has it that Rousey isn’t booked for the Royal Rumble at all.
This makes sense considering the strange manner, booking wise, in which Rousey dropped the title to Charlotte Flair on SmackDown and has since been absent.
But in kayfabe land, it makes sense how Rousey lost the title because Raquel Rodriguez took her to the limit beforehand.
Ever since Raquel Rodriguez got called up from NXT and was put on the SmackDown roster, the WWE has pushed Rodriguez heavily (as they should).
Raquel Rodriguez swiftly became a WWE tag team champion, she is over big time with the fans, she is a great worker, and Rodriguez can also be a perfect heel.
If Raquel Rodriguez wins the women’s Royal Rumble match, it would be opportune because she could challenge Charlotte Flair for the gold, claiming that Flair is only champion because she (Rodriguez) wrestled Rousey ahead of time.
Or, Charlotte Flair could even turn heel against Raquel Rodriguez, which would give the WWE the opportunity to boost a new babyface in the women’s division.
Either way, we could definitely see Rodriguez going over in the Royal Rumble match.
While the WWE could use the Royal Rumble to launch Becky Lynch into the main event of WrestleMania, an unsuspecting babyface like Raquel Rodriguez winning would draw a huge pop. And at +500 odds, it’s a solid opportunity to risk a small stake for a chance at a big return.
Updated Women’s Royal Rumble Match Results:
Rhea Ripley did in fact win the Rumble bout but will face Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania not Bianca Belair, so hopefully we get a Ripley-Belair ‘Mania main event next year.

WWE Royal Rumble Prop Bets
The prop betting options at BetOnline for the men’s and women’s Royal Rumble matches offer some great earning potential.
We listed what we feel are the best Royal Rumble prop bets, in order of strength. Of course, no bet is ever guaranteed to win, not even Bray Wyatt beating LA Knight, so please wager responsibly.
Royal Rumble Ironman: Cody Rhodes (+100) — Click here to place a bet
The ironman in the men’s Royal Rumble match is the wrestler who clocks the most in-ring minutes. This is a perfect position for “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes.
Not only will it give Cody Rhodes a chance to showcase his ability after returning to the ring for the first time since he underwent surgery and rehab because of a torn pectoral muscle, but it’s the perfect way for him to end up being eliminated while still looking strong.
Updated Match Results:
Cody Rhodes oddly came in at No. 30, which was weird he had such a high number since he went over and is a babyface. Gunther was the Royal Rumble ironman, breaking the previous record by lasting well over 62 minutes.
Most Eliminations in the Men’s Royal Rumble Match: Solo Sikoa (+150) — Click here to place a bet
To say that the Bloodline are being booked to look strong would be a gross understatement.
The Usos are the undisputed WWE tag team champions, Roman Reigns is the undisputed WWE champion, Solo Sikoa looks to be the next Samoan Bulldozer, and it even reignited fans’ love for Sami Zayn.
Heading into WrestleMania and the events leading up to it, the Bloodline will likely remain just as strong, if not stronger.
Since Solo Sikoa isn’t going for a title at the Royal Rumble, the perfect way to platform his monster-like status is to have him clear the ring by sending oodles of bodies crashing to the ringside floor.
Updated Match Results:
Gunther not only broke the all-time Royal Rumble ironman record, but he also had the most eliminations with five.
Royal Rumble Ironwoman: Rhea Ripley (+150) — Click here to place a bet
If Rhea Ripley does face Bianca Belair at WrestleMania a la the Elimination Chamber, similar to Cody Rhodes’ position, lasting the longest in the women’s Royal Rumble would allow her to remain looking like a top contender before being eliminated.
Updated Match Results
Rhea Ripley was this year’s Royal Rumble ironwoman and like Gunther, she also set a new WWE record for longest time spent in a Women’s Royal Rumble match at over 61 minutes.
