Tottenham vs Arsenal Betting Odds, Predictions, Match Info & Line-Ups: Bet On the North London Derby (Premier League 2022/2023)

Perhaps the pick of the fixtures this weekend is the North London Derby, where Arsenal travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, riding high on an improbable season that sees them top of the league by five points.

Things aren’t quite as rosy for home side Tottenham Hotspur, who have had a mixed bag of a season, to say the least. Antonio Conte has guided his squad to 5th in the table, two points off Manchester United and Champions League qualification.

Regardless of the outcome, it’s destined to be an entertaining game, as the North London Derby always is. Let’s take a look at how the bookies are pricing things up.

Tottenham vs Arsenal Betting Odds

  • Arsenal – 23/20
  • Tottenham Hotspur – 23/10
  • Total Goals: Over 2.5 – 4/5
  • Total Goals: Under 2.5 – 1/1
  • BTTS: Yes – 3/4
  • BTTS: No – 21/20

All signs point towards this being a tense affair that could go either way, with short odds for both teams to score as well as total goals. Tottenham playing at home should give them a boost in terms of containing Arsenal’s devastating and fluid attack.

However, Tottenham’s backline has been questionable at best this year, and it’s still very easy to see where it may be exploited against the likes of Emerson Royal and an increasingly mistake-prone Eric Dier.

The North London Derby History (Tottenham vs Arsenal)

Blink, and you may have missed the period of ‘dominance’ where Tottenham overtook Arsenal to become the best team in North London. During this spell, Spurs managed to rack up a grand total of zero trophies before crashing back down to earth this year in a season where Arsenal is likely to win its first Premier League title since 2004.

Still, they did manage to finish above them while selling out one of their best managers since Bill Nicholson and drafting in two headstrong and hopelessly stubborn coaches to replace him. So who’s the real winner, you may ask?

Historically, Arsenal still remains out in front with 86 wins to Tottenham’s 67. They’ve also split the honours a total of 56 times between them. The last six games are split evenly down the middle, with three wins a piece for both teams.

Although the first match on record for the two clubs was in 1887, the rivalry didn’t begin properly until 1913, when Arsenal moved from their home of Woolwich in South London to a new one in North London.

The North London Derby is considered one of the most bitter and hotly contested rivalries in the world. There is no love lost between these two clubs, and the result is usually a spectacularly entertaining affair, whether you’re a fan of the teams involved or not.

Tottenham vs Arsenal: Who Will Win and How?

There’s an old saying in football that form goes out the window when it comes to derby games, but is that always the case? It’s difficult to present much of a positive case for the home side right now, who seem to lack anything close to the spirit needed to win a fierce derby game against rivals.

That being said, where there’s a will, there’s a way. So let’s examine some of the ways either team could come out with the victory on Sunday afternoon in North London.

Arsenal Will Win This Premier League Game If:

They can overcome Gabriel Jesus’s absence: Mikel Arteta continues to reiterate the lack of options Arsenal have up top with Jesus’s injury. We can feel somewhat sympathetic to a degree, but the truth is Eddie Nketiah has been doing a fine job as a backup for the Brazilian international. While Arsenal is undoubtedly a better team with Jesus in the side, they should have more than enough to overcome a weak Spurs backline without him.

They attack Tottenham’s weak links: You have to fear for Tottenham’s right-backs coming up against Gabriel Martinelli. He has been giving the rest of the league a torrid time and will surely be one of Arsenal’s most lethal weapons against a right-hand side that contains Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty, who have both been less than reliable defensively.

>> Bet on Arsenal to win

Tottenham Will This Premier League Game Win If:

They use the home advantage: Tottenham has not lost at home to Arsenal since 2015. That’s a spectacularly strong record and goes to show how much different home turf makes in this rivalry. The Spurs will need the will to win on Sunday, and the home crowd and atmosphere may just give it to them.

They play the right personnel: Gabriel Martinelli once said that Djed Spence was the toughest opponent he’d ever played against. Tottenham fans should bear that in mind this Sunday when they see Djed Spence on the bench again and Emerson Royal getting absolutely terrorised by the aforementioned Brazilian starlet.

Tottenham vs Arsenal Betting Guide & Predictions (Premier League 2022/2023)

Harry Kane to Score – 9/5 @ Grosvenor

The only consistent piece of Tottenham Hotspur right now is Harry Kane. His goal-scoring has not slowed down one bit, and he only trails the golden boot race to that superhuman lab mutant up in the blue half of Manchester. His record for derby games is great too, with three goals in the last two. 9/5 is a pretty decent price, all things considered.

>> Bet on Harry Kane to score

Over 2.5 Goals – 4/5 @ Grosvenor

Five of the last six meetings between Arsenal and Tottenham have resulted in over 2.5 goals. Both teams have plenty of goals in them this season, with Arsenal ranked second for total team goals, and Spurs ranked third. We’d consider this a banker bet, and definitely something to stick in an accumulator or bet builder if that’s your style.

>> Bet on over 2.5 goals

BTTS Yes – 3/4 @ Grosvenor

Three of the last four North London Derby games have resulted in both teams scoring. It’s traditionally a high-scoring fixture in which both teams find the back of the net pretty regularly. There’s not much else to say here than it’s almost another no-brainer. We highly doubt Tottenham will reproduce the shutout they managed at the end of 21/22, not given how this season has been going for both teams.

>> Bet on both teams to score a goal

Tottenham vs Arsenal Key Players

Harry Kane

For as long as he plays for Spurs, he will always be their most important player. Year after year, time after time, he continues to prove his doubters wrong and remain one of the best strikers in the world. He’s always enjoyed a rivalry game, too, with an exemplary goal-scoring record against the team that released him as a youngster.

>> Bet on Harry Kane to score

Rodrigo Bentancur

The second part of the ‘Juventus rejects’ that was sold to Tottenham almost a year ago and has gone on to become one of their most important players. He has been battling an injury but is slated to make his return on Sunday, and his impact will make a world of difference to a struggling Spurs midfield.

>> Bet on Rodrigo Bentancur to assist

Bukayo Saka

Affectionately known as Star Boy by Arsenal fans across the globe, it’s extremely difficult to root against such a likeable and talented young player. He’s been a key part of Arsenal’s unexpected title run this year, and if Arsenal is going to get a result away from home, he’ll be a pivotal reason why.

>> Bet on Bukayo Saka to score a goal

Martin Ødegaard

The ex-Real Madrid wonderkid from Norway has been a revelation for Arsenal this year, becoming a much-needed talisman for the side who has contributed healthily in both goals and assists. Much like Saka, any success Arsenal have is sure to have him at the centre of it.

>> Bet on Martin Ødegaard to assist

Guide to Betting on Tottenham vs Arsenal (Premier League 2022/2023)

What is the North London Derby?

Who’s the favourite to win the North London Derby?

Arsenal is the slight favourite to battle out a win against Tottenham Hotspur in this North London Derby.

Do either PL team have injury concerns?

Arsenal have a clean bill of health aside from long-term absences like Gabriel Jesus, whereas Tottenham may see returns from injured players Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur.

Is Arsenal going to win the Premier League this year?

They may well do. They are currently five points clear at the top of the table but have the menacing Manchester City following closely behind. It’ll go to the wire.

Are there other London derbies?

Yes, there are many other London derbies and rivalries, but none as fierce as the North London one.

Will Arsenal Continue to March to Glory, or will Spurs Finally Figure it Out?

This is going to be one of the most thrilling games played this weekend, if not this season, and will tell us a lot about where these two rival clubs are right now and where they may be headed.

Can Arsenal continue their improbable dominance and shift a weaker Spurs team aside? They certainly have the tools to do so, and the bookies are backing them (ever so slightly) to come out as victors.

Despite Tottenham’s inconsistent season, they are still a formidable outfit, especially when played at home. If they want to win some of the more discontent fans back around and instill some confidence back into the side, this would be the perfect game to do so.

We think Arsenal may just have a little bit too much for Tottenham this time around. Even with the home-field advantage, Spurs lack a clear-cut identity under Conte, while Arsenal show no signs of letting up under Arteta.

We’ll be placing our bets at Grosvenor, how about you?
