Most cities in Europe have football clubs. Derby has always been a major event in the history of England. Fans wait the entire year for Derby Day and isn’t that something to be excited of?

While football is one of the most loved games and popular sports, it is also one great sport because of all the rivalries involved. These rivalries have no sense geographically but then it is something the fans look forward to as well.

The supporters of these teams travel across the world just to witness these rivalries. The winning team’s supporters keep bragging about the win till the next season. And that’s not all. The supporters also place bets on their favourite teams. Joinsini is one great platform to start betting on your favourite football team.

The background of these grudges are not really known, but then these are some of the biggest rivalries. Here’s a look at some of the biggest rivalries between the football clubs.

Palmeiras vs Corinthians

This is the biggest rivalry in Brazil when Europeans eventually came to be known as “betrayers.” The “betrayers” or rebel members separated from the Corinthians to form their own sports clubs of Italians referred to as Palestra Italia, which later on came to be known as Palestra or Palmeiras.

Eventually, these two rose to fame as the greatest football clubs and the fans split into two groups. The colour and sound of the groups help to differentiate between the team members.

Roma and Lazio

This is one of the biggest or devilish rivalries in the history of football. Politics and proximity have contributed to igniting the fire between the two teams. But as far as the history goes, Lazio decided not to join with any three clubs from the capital and eventually to lead to the creation of AS Roma. Hence, began the rift or gap between the two teams.

Liverpool and Manchester United

This is one of the best-known rivalries, and the battle to win the Best of British title has been there for half a century. United has always dominated over Liverpool in the Premier League era, thereby winning over 18 domestic titles. At the same time, Liverpool stays ahead of its rivals with five European Cups as compared to three. But it is not only about football. There’s a cultural and industrial rivalry between the two.

Boca Juniors and River Plate

Spain is popular for its ‘El Classico,’ while Argentina is famous for its ‘ilSuperclasico.’ Like most of the rivalry games, the fire to the game is social resentment. The difference in strata of La Boca belonging to the humble beginnings to River Plate belonging to the aristocratic environment, acted as a main boost to the game. Boca Juniors were a part of the suburbs. Hence, the game between Boca Juniors and River Plate is one of the most interesting matches to look forward to as it offers a nerve-jangling experience.
