Sticker of the Week returns with Walker’s Crisps’ leading sales rep….

GARY LINEKER

Here we see the Leicester-born goal-hanger during his one and only season with Everton in 1985-86. Judging by the way only the left half of his head seems to be awake, it’s a fair bet that Jug Lugs sleeps on his right hand side. Although he poached a superb tally of 40 League and Cup goals in this year, and took home the Golden Boot from the Mexico ’86 World Cup, both Everton and England ended the year potless. The Blues virtually threw the League title at Liverpool with their late season collapse and succumbed to their neighbours again in the quest for Lineker’s silvery doppelganger, the FA Cup. After his six goals in Mexico and a move away from Goodison Park, it could only be all downhill from then on for Lineker, who went on to star for Barcelona and Tottenham, becoming rich and decorated in the process, before a near fatal toe injury ended his playing career on his farewell jolly in Japan. Lineker joined Walker’s in 1995 and moonlights frequently as the host of the BBC’s Match of the Day.
