GARY MEGSON

megson

Despite what it looks like, this isn’t Cilla Black in an Everton shirt. It is, in fact, former journeyman midfielder, Gary Megson. The ex-Toffees, Sheffield Wednesday, Norwich City and countless other teams’ ginger clogger was once described by Brian Clough as being so bad “he couldn’t trap a bag of cement” during a woeful five month spell at Nottingham Forest. Unusually kind of you that, Cloughie. After hanging up his boots, he went into management, and despite bringing West Bromwich Albion back to the Premier League after a 14 year holiday in the lower divisions, he advocated all of his subsequent sides to employ a style of football often described as ‘shite’. Never far from criticism from fans and even his own players for his tactics and general demeanour, Megson currently finds himself ‘between jobs’.
