Pimblett’s “Performance of the Night” streak would come to an end in his next bout, a matchup with Jared Gordon at UFC 282. He would still have his hand raised at the end of the fight — this time due to a unanimous decision — but this ending was seen as a controversial win by all accounts. Not only did Pimblett not dominate this fight, but most observers also didn’t feel he won it at all. Miller is a legendary fighter within the Octagon and the man who holds the record for most fights inside the UFC cage. He’s tangled with some of the biggest names in the business, including Diego Sanchez, Donald Cerrone, Nate Diaz, and more.

While Miller hasn’t been in the title conversation for quite some time, he remains a very dangerous fighter, and a bout with him would certainly be no cakewalk for Pimblett. Still, it’s a highly winnable fight and one that could get The Baddy back on track for his own title shot.

Drew Dober vs Paddy Pimblett Fight

If you really want to make a cage fighter mad, try calling him “the Jake Paul of the UFC.”

That’s exactly what Dober said about Pimblett while also suggesting that the UFC is protecting its star from truly dangerous competition. Dober also suggested that the two nearly scheduled a fight prior to Pimblett’s meeting with Gordon but that he received a “hard no” from Pimblett’s camp.

All of the trash-talking is a clear indication that this is a fight that Dober desperately wants, and it’s not hard to see why. The American was seemingly on the cusp of the top 10 in the lightweight division prior to suffering a TKO loss to Matt Frevola in his last outing, and a win over the future golden boy of the division could catapult him back into that conversation.

Paddy Pimblett to Fight Matt Frevola

Besides boasting one of the best nicknames in MMA, Matt “the Steamrolla” Frevola is also one of the better fighters that Pimblett could realistically hope to schedule in his next fight.

Frevola is currently sitting just outside the top 10 lightweights, and the winner of a dance with Pimblett could conceivably find themselves catapulted square into the ranks of title contenders in the 155-pound division.

His last four fights have ended with knockouts, so it’s likely that a scrap with Pimblett would do the same. That would give the fans exactly what they clamour for when the Baddy enters the Octagon, which is something Dana White undoubtedly takes into consideration when booking matches.

McKinney is another fighter who would represent a punishment of sorts for Pimblett, as he’s clearly a few rungs below the Englishman in the lightweight rankings. He’d also be a risky matchup for The Baddy, as he’s the kind of strong wrestler who could give Pimblett fits on the mat.

Bobby Green to Fight Paddy Pimblett

While most observers would consider Green a higher-ranked fighter than Pimblett, the two men’s careers seem to be headed in different directions.

After earning White’s respect for taking a bout against Islam Makhachev in February 2022 (a fight he lost by first-round TKO), Green squandered all that goodwill by testing positive for PEDs and having to pull out of a contest with Jim Miller. He returned to the Octagon in December 2022, where he was knocked out by Drew Dober, then had an unsatisfying NC with Jared Gordon.

Renato Moicano vs. Paddy Pimblett

No matter what you think of Pimblett as a fighter, you can’t deny he’s a guy that brings out the vitriol in opponents. Add Moicano to the list of pugilists that have publicly called out the Englishman and accused him of ducking them.

Moicano has repeatedly tried to arrange a fight with Pimblett, in large part due to his motto of “Moicano wants money.” A scrap with the ultra-hyped Baddy would undoubtedly bring Moicano one of his biggest paydays to date.

Dana White has yet to ask for our opinion on UFC matchmaking, but if we were to set up The Baddy’s next fight, we’d pit him against Matt Frevola.

The fight would be high-stakes for both men, as Pimblett needs to show that his performance against Jared Gordon was a fluke, and Frevola needs to demonstrate that he belongs among the top tier of contenders at 155 pounds.

It’s worth noting that Pimblett’s bad luck against Jared Gordon didn’t stop with the fan backlash he received after the decision. The latest fight news has revealed he also suffered an ankle injury in the bout that required surgery.

Pimblett claims the injury occurred in the first round, which, if true, could go a long way towards explaining why he wasn’t as sharp as usual in the first fight.

He has indicated that the injury was more severe than initially expected and that significant reconstruction had to happen to get him back to 100%. It will be interesting to see if there are any lingering effects from the injury moving forward.
