Overview of the 2023 NFL Season: Storylines to Follow in Week 10
Each game of the NFL season is bound to come with storylines worth monitoring, but from a larger scope, here are some of the top storylines that you should keep an eye out for in Week 10 of the NFL season.
The Barometer Test Around The NFL
There are plenty of great “tests” around Week 10 for teams to determine where they stand in the NFL as far as talent.
The Vikings and Saints are two teams battling it out for a potentially tight NFL wildcard race, and scoring a victory could be big.
Similarly, the Jacksonville Jaguars will go against the 49ers for a chance to prove themselves against one of the best teams in the NFL. Scoring a victory would be a nice boost of momentum as they enter the back half of the season.
Clarity In The Draft Order
While there are countless good teams on tap to face off, there are some games that could have major implications for the 2024 NFL Draft.
The Bears own both first round picks in this contest, but their game against Carolina could shake up the top of the draft.
The Patriots and Colts will play in Frankfurt where the loser could easily wind up in the bottom five selections come April.
The AFC North Battle Continues
The Ravens and Browns square off in Week 10 for an advantage in the tightest division in football.
Both teams will desperately want to score a big time win, so the team who pulls out victorious will score a crucial leg up in the standings.
Explaining NFL ATS Bets: What They Are, and the Pros & Cons of Betting ATS in Week 10
What Are Spreads?
NFL betting spreads are a tool used in sports betting to create an equal balance between both teams even when the matchup is lopsided.
A handicap is placed by sports betting platforms in order to level out the playing field and encourage bettors to choose between both teams.
Reading a Spread
There are favorites and underdogs in a common spread. The favorite will have a negative number (ex. -3.5) that they must win the game by over that amount of points in order to cover the spread.
For underdogs, they will have a positive number (ex. +6.5) to where they would have to win or lose by less than that spread total in order to cover.
There is also a “pick em” spread that means you will only have to choose the winner with no score differential needed to cover.
Advantages of Placing ATS Bets
Betting against the spread is a great way of wagering money that will get you equal returns back.
On top of that, it is one of the most covered sports betting props so finding content and research on the topic is easy.
Disadvantages of Betting Spreads
The disadvantages of betting on spreads is that there can be countless factors that completely flip the outcome of a game.
In the same breath, it can be frustrating to pick the correct winner, but that team does not win by enough to cover the spread.
NFL Week 10 Against the Spread Predictions: Free NFL Picks ATS for Week Ten
The NFL week 10 ATS odds are out, the games are here, and now it is time for you to hit the sportsbooks and place your wagers.
While you may be plenty ready, here is a primer for each contest and our predictions for each game.
Panthers at Bears (-1)
Analysis: Things haven’t started as planned for Head Coach Frank Reich in his first year with Carolina, but the team has shown promise at times.
Now on Thursday Night, rookie QB Bryce Young has a chance to score a nice win over a shaky Bears team.
For Chicago, the team has improved from their dreadful start to the season, but defensively continue to have too many issues. QB Justin Fields is back and healthy which helps their chances, but the team must play stronger in order to control and win against Carolina.
Writer’s Expert Pick: Bears -1
It seems the Panthers are the worst team in the league, while Chicago doesn’t rank much better, they should be able to pull out this victory on Thursday night to kick off Week 10.

Colts vs Patriots (-2.5)
Analysis: The Patriots have shown flashes and shown what rock bottom looks like. Now the team has started to level out and play to their capabilities again.
QB Mac Jones has shown promise to reinstill confidence he could be the long-term answer. Still, a loss against Indianapolis could once again send the optimism in spiral.
After losing rookie QB Anthony Richardson, the Colts season seemed ruined. Still, the team remains competitive with their rushing attack of Jonathan Taylor and Zack Moss. The team is still very competitive, could they potentially go into Foxboro and pull off the upset?
Writer’s Expert Pick: Patriots -2.5
After hitting rock bottom, the Patriots appear to be slowly climbing back out. They should be able to pull out a win at home against this Indianapolis Colts squad.

Texans at Bengals (-4.5)
Analysis: After a slow start to the year, the Bengals are back as one of the NFL’s top contenders. QB Joe Burrow and WR Ja’Marr Chase remain one of the strongest connections in the passing game, and the defense is very stout.
Still, the team needs to continue winning with a tight AFC North.
Head Coach DeMeco Ryans has been phenomenal in year one as well as the young talent for the Texans. The team has an extremely promising future, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t focused on now. Can they cover a 4.5 point spread against a tough Bengals team?
Writer’s Expert Pick: Bengals -4.5
Cincinnati is working their way back into the top of the AFC, so expect them to handle business against a scrappy Texans team here at home.

Saints at Vikings (-2.5)
Analysis: QB Kirk Cousins deserves a large amount of credit for leading a young and struggling team back from the dead to now a potential playoff contender.
The team looks better each week, and as they get healthy they will only be better, but they still need to make up ground for their early season struggles.
New Orleans started the year promising, but there have been too many hiccups as of late that has stalled the team on their season’s path. Minnesota is red hot, but a victory here could play heavily into their favor as the late-season playoff picture starts to take shape.
Writer’s Expert Pick: Vikings -2.5
Hard to argue with momentum and the Vikings seem to have it. After a terrible start to the year, Minnesota now puts themselves with a chance at pulling a wildcard spot. A win here in Week 10 will go a long way toward that.

Packers at Steelers (-3)
Analysis: The offensive line in Green Bay has stalled many opportunities, but the team still shows promise at times. QB Jordan Love needs to clean up his turnovers, and RB Aaron Jones needs to remain healthy. But at full strength, this team is plenty capable.
Despite the stresses of each game, the Steelers have a knack for pulling out victories in tight contests.
QB Kenny Pickett still has his struggles, and the secondary too. But somehow, coach Mike Tomlin finds a way to win, and that isn’t a coincidence.
Writer’s Expert Pick: Packers +3
Green Bay has had their issues all year, but they’ve kept games tight. They may not pull out the win here on the road, but expect this game to be tight and the Packers to cover because of it.
>> Bet Packers/Steelers at Sportsbetting.ag <<
Titans at Buccaneers (-3)
Analysis: Following the injury to QB Ryan Tannehill, the Titans appear to have embraced the rebuild. They have two young QBs who could step in and inspire victory, but for now the team seems more poised to rely on their youth and likely drop most games as a result.
The Buccaneers are still a competitive team but they’ve had too many flat outings that can’t happen if they intend to make a Super Bowl run. The defense remains dominant, but the lack of run game and inconsistency of QB Baker Mayfield leads to too many issues.
Writer’s Expert Pick: Buccaneers -3
Tennessee has fallen apart as of late with injuries and embracing the rebuild. Tampa Bay is looking to win the NFC South and make a playoff push, so expect them to control this one on both sides of the football.
>> Start betting on NFL at BetAnySports <<
49ers (-3.5) at Jaguars
Analysis: There weren’t any teams who looked as good as San Francisco to start the season but after a string of losses, the team has proven they are mortal.
Still, the offense looks great with RB Christian McCaffrey leading the way. The 49ers have a Super Bowl visit in mind, but for now they’ll need to focus on Jacksonville in Week 10.
The Jaguars have gotten the momentum going and appear to have taken control of the AFC South. QB Trevor Lawrence will lead the offense, if he can remain hot then this could be a tight contest with the Jaguars potentially winning at home.
Writer’s Expert Pick: 49ers -3.5
San Francisco dropped the ball a bit in recent weeks, but they remain one of the top teams in the league. They should be able to come out and win on the road against Jacksonville.
>> Start betting on NFL at Everygame <<
Browns at Ravens (-1)
Analysis: The Ravens and Browns have battled through injury bugs but remained competitive through the first half of the year. For Baltimore, the arrival of rookie WR Zay Flowers has been huge for the passing game and QB Lamar Jackson has been strong as a result. The scoring is still an issue, but the overall efficiency is there to believe things will click soon.
Cleveland has a dominant defensive roster that is capable of shutting down any team, but they also have done well offensively despite losing RB Nick Chubb for the season and QB Deshaun Watson battling injuries this year. There is still work to be done, but the team is capable of competing with anyone.
Writer’s Expert Pick: Ravens -1
Whoever wins this game will get a big leg up in the AFC North battle, but expect Lamar Jackson and this Ravens offense to play well enough to get away with the victory and score a big time win in Week 10.
>> Place your NFL bets at BetUS <<
Falcons (-2.5) at Cardinals
Analysis: Atlanta has been a pleasant surprise this season as Head Coach Arthur Smith has put this team in position to potentially compete for the NFC South title. The rushing attack behind rookie RB Bijan Robinson is very strong, so as long as QB Desmond Ridder is effective the offense has nice promise.
With QB Kyler Murray back there is a new energy for this Cardinals offense as they enter the back-half of the year. The team still has their issues, but the defense has improved under Head Coach Jonathan Gannon and they will be competitive week in and week out.
Writer’s Expert Pick: Cardinals +2.5
The Cardinals started out the year scrappy but unable to pull many victories. With QB Kyler Murray back in the fold expect them to find a way to come out strong and upset the Falcons at home.

Lions (-2.5) at Chargers
Analysis: Head Coach Dan Campbell has done a tremendous job turning this Lions franchise around and they appear to be one of the NFL’s best when healthy. Against what has been a shaky Chargers squad, Detroit will look to dominate on the ground to secure another big time victory.
For Los Angeles, they have the talent to compete with anyone, but have constantly come up short through this part of the year. QB Justin Herbert remains one of the league’s best but until the team can step up in big moments, they will continue to fail to win big games.
Writer’s Expert Pick: Lions -2.5
Coming off their bye week, the Lions should be well-rested and back near full strength. They’ve proven to be one of the best teams in the league when that’s the case, expect them to cover against an inconsistent Chargers ball club.
>> Make week 10 bets at xBet now <<
Giants at Cowboys (-12.5)
Analysis: The Cowboys are business as usual through the first nine weeks as QB Dak Prescott has performed admirably while the Dallas defense continues to make plays to put the team in position to win. There are some doubters still, but for Week 10 the Cowboys are in position to win convincingly.
Head Coach Brian Daboll has shown promise, but the Giants team has been rocky so far this season. If QB Daniel Jones brings his A-game then this 12.5-point spread is feasible to cover, but after the 40-0 season opener, there isn’t much optimism.
Writer’s Expert Pick: Cowboys -12.5
It’s not easy to win twice, so dominating twice is even harder. However, the Cowboys have the Giants figured out. Expect it to be a thrashing in Week 10 in Dallas.
>> Grab up to $750 in bonus money at Bovada <<
Commanders at Seahawks (-6.5)
Analysis: QB Sam Howell has shown promise to be the team’s future at QB, but the production needs to be more consistent. Defensively though, the team has struggled. The secondary has not stepped up as needed and it keeps this team from breaking into the next tier of competitiveness.
The Seahawks defense has been tremendous through the first half of the year, but the offense needs to step up. QB Geno Smith has had his bright moments, but there are too many flat outings that will hold this team back from contending if not fixed.
Writer’s Expert Pick: Seahawks -6.5
The Commanders have some upset potential here to keep it close, but the Seahawks are well-rounded enough to control this game on both sides of the football. Expect them to do so.
>> Start betting on NFL at MyBookie <<
Jets (-3.5) at Raiders
Analysis: QB Zach Wilson has settled in nicely as a game manager for the Jets, while the run game and defense have stepped up.
The offensive line still has work to be done, and that could get exposed against DE Maxx Crosby but New York has the talent to win this game comfortably.
The Raiders record has them in position to compete for a playoff spot, but on tape there have been many issues. Head Coach Josh McDaniels could be coaching for his life in the back-half of the season though, so the team could play with a fire underneath them because of it.
Writer’s Expert Pick: Jets -3.5
The Raiders have squeaked out plenty of games up to this point in the season, but the Jets should have the defensive strength to shut them down completely – and enough offensive production to couple with that to cover on the road.
>> Grab up to $1,000 in bonus money at BetOnline <<
Broncos at Bills (-6.5)
Analysis: The Denver Broncos have had a couple of victories, but overall have been disastrous this season. QB Russell Wilson has shown signs of life, but now the defense has been too easily produced against.
If there is any chance of covering the Monday Night football odds of 6.5 points, they must limit the Bills offense.
QB Josh Allen has been one of the best QBs this season, but there have been some doubters of the offense. Still, the Bills remain one of the NFL’s best teams and should be on track to compete for the AFC.
They still must remain focused for their Monday Night contest against Denver.
Writer’s Expert Pick: Bills -6.5
Perhaps this week’s selection is too boring, but sometimes that’s the case. The Bills wrap up a favorite-heavy Week 10 with a Monday Night victory by over a touchdown against the Broncos.
