CHELSEA HOME 1981-83

This lovely pin-striped number was worn by Chelsea during one of their darkest periods – 20 years before Roman Abramovich and his billions transformed the team and the dilapidated Stamford Bridge. Financial instability, relegation from Division 1, near relegation to Division 3, hooliganism, the threat of electrified crowd fences and the delightful Ken Bates (who famously bought the club for £1) shows just how far the Blues have come since the early 1980’s.

Those who sported this Le Coq Sportif shirt were Chelsea ‘legends’ Mike Fillery, Clive Walker and the uncompromising Micky Droy
