During 1992 and 1993 Hull City were clothed by Bolton-based kit suppliers, Matchwinner (ironic given the club were struggling at the bottom of the Football League during this time and found it difficult to actually win matches). The company took far too much inspiration for their design from Hull’s nickname of ‘The Tigers’ as we can see in this abomination.
Looking more appropriate for the lithe, shapely form of a young Eartha Kitt rather than hugging the more ample figures of Wayne Jacobs and Dean Windass, this tiger-printed eyesore must go down as one of the worst pieces of footballing apparel ever to ‘grace’ the English game.
During its brief time in use by the Boothferry Park side, two different sponsors had the misfortune to be associated with this jersey – local companies Bonus Electrical and Pepi’s nightclub.
