WEST HAM UNITED HOME 1983-1985
The Hammers and Adidas have teamed up this year to bring some smart looking kits to the Premier League just as the partnership did during the 1980’s. The second of the three home shirts released in 1983 was the traditional claret body and blue sleeves but incorporated a light blue band across the front of the shirt, within which the name of sponsors AVCO was emblazoned.
This was also the last time a West Ham shirt sported the emblem of the two crossed hammers on the chest and was most memorably worn when Upton Park legend Trevor Brooking laced up his boots for the final time.
Other former East End greats to grace the Boleyn Ground during this time were Alvin Martin, Billy Bonds, Alan Devonshire and Ray Stewart.
John Lyall’s Irons side wore this kit when they thumped Bury 10-0 at Upton Park in a Milk Cup tie in August 1983.
