#4 – Cristiano Ronaldo (2000’s to current) – Striker/Winger for Portugal, Manchester United, and Real Madrid

Ronaldo is a household name all around the world, to football fans and beyond. He was signed by Manchester United at 18 after he impressed during pre-season games. They then went on to win three major league titles and the European Cup of 2008.

His exciting dribbling pace and skills lead him to score an incredible range and number of goals. His phenomenal record continued after he moved to Real Madrid where he stills astounds fans.

#3 – Lionel Messi (2000s to current)- Right-Wing/ Support Striker for Argentina and Barcelona

Many consider Messi to be the most remarkable player of today. For over 10 year’s he’s been the star player for Barcelona. Messi plays a creative forward position and is skilled at drifting from wide and center positions to beat players, set up goals, and score.

He continues to impress fans consistently with his creativity and skills. In La Liga, he scored a whopping 178 goals during 309 games. He has also won the Ballon D’Or 5 times, which is more than any other player has ever won it. He also holds the record of the most scores in the European Cup.

#2 – Diego Maradona (1980 and 90s) – Midfielder for Argentina, Barcelona, and Napoli

One of the marks of a legend in soccer is whether or not the player ever led their team to a World Cup win. No other player has done so in a more distinguished manner than Diego Maradona in 1986. He scored an impressive 5 goals and made 5 assists during the course of seven games. Without Maradona, it would not have been possible for them to win the World Cup trophy.

#1 – Pele (the 1950s to 70s) – Inside Forward for Santos and Brazil

Most of the players on this list either grew up watching Pele or were inspired by his records. He is still the greatest football legend of all time.
