Footballers to have left an impression despite short-lived spell in the Premier League

The Premier League has continued to attract a number of top footballers to England over the years, with many having gone on to stardom and become huge hits with the fans of those football clubs that they have joined.

Naturally, there have been a number of players to have excelled, however there are some that have gone straight into oblivion and would have been incredibly difficult to remember as they were unable to make a lasting impression. Bettors will know the feeling as they may have used online casinos in the past that have failed to live up to expectations, although they can avoid that now when they click here for a list of great options available to them.

However, there have been a number of players to have made an impact on the memories of many football fans that watch the Premier League, despite only having lasted a small period of time in their playing career.

Here are just some of the players to have left a lasting impression for a number of different reasons…

Asamoah Gyan

Having been acquired by Sunderland for a fee of £13 million, Asamoah Gyan looked the real deal as he scored 12 goals for the Black Cats in his debut season, including one on his debut. However, things turned sour for the Ghanaian on Wearside as he appeared to chase the money with moves to UAE and China.

Michu

Perhaps one of the biggest cult heroes to have ever emerged from the Premier League, Michu left a huge lasting impact on fans of Swansea City and others in England’s top-tier. He started life in south Wales with a brace on his debut before hitting six goals in eight matches. He reached 13 for the season by the time Christmas came around.

He netted a further five that season, as well as three more in the League Cup as they won the competition, but things then went south as he never managed to recover.

Amr Zaki

Amir Zaki looked exceptional when he first arrived in the Premier League with Wigan Athletic. Signing on loan in 2008, he netted seven goals in his first eight games. Once 2009 arrived, he was already on 10 Premier League goals and looked good on reaching the label of being “better than Messi” that was placed on his head.

If he had managed to work harder, perhaps he would have done. However, Steve Bruce revealed that he was the worst professional he ever worked with and criticised the then-Egypt international’s attitude and unprofessionalism.

Robinho

Robinho should have been joining Chelsea in 2008, however he shocked the world when he ended up at the Etihad Stadium and signing for Manchester City instead. He would net 14 goals in his first season in the Premier League, but the next campaign saw him struggle massively. He did not score in the 10 Premier League fixtures that followed and was subsequently sent away from the team, initially on loan before letting him go permanently.
