Brief Recap of the 2022 F1 Season & 2023 Formula One Tips
It surely surprised no one that Max Verstappen not only won the 2022 Formula One season – he dominated it. The Flying Dutchman won 15 races in all, which culminated with victory in the last race of the season.
By winning 15 races, Verstappen broke the previous record for most races won in a single season, which had been jointly held by Michael Schumacher and Sebastien Vettel (13 races).
Verstappen ended the 2022 season with 454 points. Charles Leclerc came second with 308 points, edging out third-place Perez, who finished the season with 305 points. While Verstappen’s dominance wasn’t a surprise, Lewis Hamilton going winless throughout the whole season was a surprise.
The 2021 Formula One champion struggled right from the get-go in 2022 and, along with his Mercedes crew, simply couldn’t get into harmony with his Mercedes. Going winless for a whole season was a new first for Hamilton, who has won 103 F1 races in his career so far.
Hamilton’s struggles were contrasted with the success of Carlos Sainz and George Russell, who both won their first Formula 1 races. Sainz triumphed at the British Grand Prix, while Russell claimed the pole on the podium in Brazil.
2022’s other notable event was Sebastien Vettel’s retirement. Now 35, the German has picked up 4 F1 titles in his illustrious career, and his seat at Aston Martin has been taken by fellow veteran Fernando Alonso.

2023 Formula One Championship Odds & Predictions
Let’s take a closer look at the latest Formula 1 betting odds.
Max Verstappen Odds: 8/11 at Luckland
Unsurprisingly, Max Verstappen is the odds-on favourite to win the 2023 Formula One Championship. 8/11 is currently the best price you’ll get him at. While it’s not a surprise that Verstappen is the favourite to land another title, it’s surprising that his odds are so short – and we’d be wary of backing him at this stage.
Especially since we haven’t seen Red Bull’s new RB19 car in action yet.
While the Dutchman is undeniably rapid, he will have to face much stronger competition from Mercedes than he did last year. He won’t have it all his own way in 2023.

Lewis Hamilton Odds: 3/1 at Grosvenor
Seven-time Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton endured a torrid time in 2022. Incredibly, the Mercedes driver didn’t win a single race. He finished sixth overall with 240 points and was on the podium just nine times.
… So why is he the second favourite at the start of the 2023 championship?
Well, Mercedes won’t be hampered by the same technical problems that ruined their season in 2022. This frees up Lewis Hamilton to do what he does best: Win races.
As such, it could all boil down to who’s the fastest driver – Hamilton or Verstappen. For this reason, Hamilton is arguably a snip at 3/1.

Charles Leclerc Odds: 6/1 at Grosvenor
Ferrari are a bit of an unknown quantity heading into the 2023 season because Fred Vasseur recently took over as Team Principal – and no one has any idea what kind of season that could spell for the Italians.
Admittedly, last season was a bit of a mess for Ferrari, and we’re willing to wager that 2023 won’t be anywhere near as bad.
In fact, it might be a whole lot better.
For this reason, as well as the fact that Leclerc is Ferrari’s starman, we think it is a great price here.
George Russell Odds: 6/1 at Mr Play Sport
George Russell will have a few obstacles to overcome if he’s to win the 2023 Formula One championship – not least his teammate Lewis Hamilton, who is comfortably Mercedes’s top-ranked driver.
Still, a lot of bettors are putting their money on Russell in 2023 on account of the fact that the Brit is a seriously good F1 driver who’s destined to win the F1 championship at some point. It’s highly likely that 2023 will be a three-legged race between Verstappen, Hamilton and one of either Leclerc or Russell.
We think Russell, who finished fourth last season with 275 points and 8 podiums, is well worth a punt if you’re a fan of his.

Carlos Sainz Odds: 25/1 at 888 Sport
Looking to back an outsider? Okay, we’ll play ball.
The idea that a 25/1 shot could win the Formula 1 title is, of course, pretty nuts. Carlos Sainz, who drives for Ferrari, is the fifth favourite at all the top-rated UK betting sites – but we think his chances of winning the 2023 Formula One championship are slim to nil.
Two reasons: First, he doesn’t race for Mercedes or Red Bull. Second, he isn’t even Ferrari’s number-one driver. That honour goes to Charles Leclerc, who will have a bigger crack at the title than Sainz.
If you’ve got a few quid lying around and fancy a fun little punt, be our guest!

2023 F1 Constructors Championship Odds & Predictions
Despite it all, F1 is, at heart, a team sport. As well as betting on which driver you think will reign supreme come to the end of the season, you can also bet on which team will win the Constructors Championship.
In reality, your options are limited to Red Bull, Mercedes and Ferrari. Red Bull won the Constructors Championship in 2022, snapping Mercedes’s 8-year winning streak in the process.
So, what’s happening this time around? Let’s have a closer look.
Red Bull Odds: 10/11 at Luckland
While Ferrari might have a say in how things pan out, it’s highly likely that the race for the Constructors Championship will be a straight shoot-out between Red Bull and Mercedes.
… And the outcome may rest on who races better out of George Russell and Charles Leclerc.
If you think Verstappen will clinch the F1 title once again and that Leclerc will out-race George Russell, you can bet on Red Bull (10/11) at Luckland today!
Follow this link to visit Luckland and bet on Red Bull.
Mercedes Odds: 5/4 at Grosvenor
Mercedes are available at marginally better odds than Red Bull. They had a terrible season as a team in 2022 and were dogged by constant issues with the car, with Hamilton often bemoaning that neither he nor his team understood it.
Hamilton and Verstappen will, of course, rack up an insane number of points. And if Mercedes can sort out the messy issues that plagued them in 2022? They could reclaim the top spot in the Constructors Championship in 2023.
Follow this link and bet on Mercedes at Grosvenor Casino today.
Ferrari Odds: 6/1 at Grosvenor
Ask any F1 fan, and they’ll likely tell you that either Red Bull or Mercedes will win the 2023 Constructors Championship.
But if you’re looking to have a punt and you reckon Fred Vasseur’s appointment as Team Principal is going to shake things up a bit, betting on Ferrari (6/1) is our recommendation.

How to Bet on Formula One: Different F1 Bet Types to Consider
On the face of it, Formula One appears to be a fairly straightforward sport to bet on.
But actually, apart from betting on who you think will win the Championship, as well as who you think will win an individual race, there are many different ways you can bet on the F1 and make serious bank.
Bet on F1 Race Winner
Betting on the race winner is the simplest way to bet on a Formula One race. Nothing needs to happen in order for you to win your bet except for the driver you’ve backed to finish first. It doesn’t matter by how many seconds they win or for how long they’ve led the race – they just need to get over the finish line first.
Picking the race winner in a Formula One race is notoriously easy. Max Verstappen won 15 F1 races last year, which means you’d have ended the year in profit had you backed him each time!
However, nothing is ever that simple. F1 races tend to have a big favourite, as well as a short second favourite. And while it’s highly likely that one of these two will win the race, the poor odds mean you could be struggling if you back the wrong horse.

Pole Position During Qualifying
At all the best UK betting sites, you can bet on the driver you think will start a race on the pole position. This can actually be a much more attractive bet than the race winner because the odds are more favourable.
For example, while Verstappen clinched 15 race wins in 2022, he only started 8 races on the pole.
Therefore, the field is a bit more open, which gives you more scope – and can help you secure better potential profits.
As long as you understand the different tracks, the different cars and the different drivers, this can be a profitable bet because you’re simply betting on who will be the fastest around the track when unimpeded by other cars.

Podium Finish Formula One Bets
Another interesting Formula One bet is betting on who will finish in the top 3 at the end of an F1 race. Again, this is another uncomplicated bet that makes watching a live Formula One race lots of fun.
And while you can be sure that Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton will finish on the podium innumerable times in 2023 (and will therefore have extremely short odds), picking the third driver is where the money is to be made.
Carlos Sainz in Bahrain? George Russell in Silverstone?
Because the field will be fairly packed, the odds for all drivers (with the exception of Verstappen and Hamilton) are always attractive.

Head-to-Head Betting F1 Bet
This type of F1 bet isn’t always available, but when it is, it can be a great way to make things interesting. Put simply; head-to-head betting is when you bet on one driver to finish in a better position than another.
For example, you could pit Hamilton against his great rival, Verstappen.
Or you could pit Hamilton against his teammate, George Russell, or the two Ferrari drivers against one another.
Check out the Mr Play website and make head-to-head F1 bets.
Formula One Fastest Lap Bets
Some UK betting sites offer a handful of F1 specials, including the fastest lap.
For this bet, you just need to pick the driver who you think will record the fastest lap. They don’t need to win the race – they just need to make it around the circuit faster than anyone else at least once.
Follow this link to 888 Sport and bet on who’s doing the fastest lap now.
F1 Futures Bets
As we saw earlier, you can bet on who you think will win the Formula One championship. F1 title odds are always released months in advance of the new season, which means you can place a bet at favourable odds before they shorten as the season starts.
Betting on the championship winner is a great way of extending your interest throughout an F1 season, as you will need to wait until the latter stages before the outcome of your bet is even close to being decided.
Follow this link and find out more about the F1 futures bets.
Formula One In-Play Betting
Formula One is no different to any other sport in that you can bet in play (live betting).
Once the race begins and it becomes clear who’s maintaining a lead at the front of the pack and who’s struggling, the F1 odds change accordingly.
In-play betting in F1 can be fruitful if you understand the sport and you’re watching a race closely so as to be able to spot trends – such as pit stop strategies and team strategies – that enable you to work out who is likeliest to win this race.

What Are the Best F1 Races to Bet On?
The Monaco Grand Prix is arguably the most glamorous F1 race that, owing to the fact that its circuit is set in and among the tight, winding streets of Monaco that offer zero margins for error, often springs a few surprises.
Indeed, at the F1 2022 Grand Prix, Perez triumphed, with Verstappen finishing third. Other exciting races to bet on include the Silverstone Grand Prix (Great Britain) and, of course, Bahrain, which signals the start of the 2023 season as the first race.

F1 Betting Tips: Everything You Should Know About Formula 1
- Spot the Value: Formula 1 betting is just like any other form of sports betting in that the bettor who is able to find the value will have a greater chance of winning over the long term.
Finding value in Formula 1 betting is a case of spotting mistakes made by the bookies when it comes to their F1 odds. For instance, if you can see they’ve massively overpriced a driver for a specific race, now is the time to take advantage.
- Bet With Your Head – Not Your Heart: F1 fans are notoriously tribal at the best of times (just ask Max Verstappen) – and it can be very easy to bet on your favourite driver and team, as opposed to betting which you really think will win a race or end up in pole position.
As with any type of sports betting, though, it’s extremely important that you put your personal preferences on hold. Lewis fans endured a terrible time in 2022, but if they could let their heads rule their hearts, they could have at least made a profit by betting against him.
- Don’t Get Carried Away: It’s fairly hard to get carried away with Formula 1 betting because race day only occurs 23 times a year. Many times, there is a week and sometimes two weeks between races, which means bettors simply can’t get caught in a chasing cycle.
However, once Sunday’s race is here, it can be easy to get carried away with live betting – and this is especially the case if the driver you backed has made a poor start on the first lap, therefore causing you to bet on another driver to cover yourself.
The advice here is to take a step back and assess the race rationally. By taking a calm approach to F1 betting, you can make your money work for you.
