College Football Week 7 (Oct. 10th – Oct. 14th) Spread Analysis & Match Up Overview
There is plenty of season left to play, but each game on the schedule matters in the world of college football. In Week 7, there are going to be plenty of games that will play a pivotal role in the end of the season standings, the field of four for playoffs, and much more. Here is a game-by-game breakdown of some of the top contests for a week you won’t want to miss.
Tulane Green Wave at Memphis Tigers (Oct. 13th)
Spread: Tulane -7
Analysis: Tulane hits the road to travel to Memphis behind their QB Michael Pratt in hopes of securing a big AAC victory. The Green Wave obviously rely on Pratt as their star, but even in his absence, they proved to be plenty capable as they held tight against Ole Miss on the road with backup QB Kai Horton under center. Head Coach Willie Fritz has built up a phenomenal program, and they should come in fully focused for this matchup with Memphis.
The Tigers are entering this game to close out one of the tougher three-game stretches in college football as they’ve gone against Missouri and Boise State in their past two contests. RB Blake Watson is the star of the show for the Memphis offense, as he’s able to produce both as a runner and receiver for this offense. QB Seth Henigan is efficient, but he’ll need to limit his turnovers in order for Memphis to pull off the upset at home.
Writer’s Pick: Tulane -7
For Tulane, Week 7 could be their biggest remaining hurdle to securing another big time bowl game. The Tigers won’t back down easily, but the Green Wave has proven to be one of the country’s top teams and should prevail as a result.

USC Trojans at Notre Dame Fighting Irish (Oct. 14th)
Spread: USC -4.5
Analysis: In what will be the more anticipated game of the week, the USC Trojans travel to Notre Dame in a battle between two very high-caliber programs who will compete with playoff implications, rivalry stakes, and just overall success on the line. Both teams are more than capable of winning this one, so expect it to be a hotly-contested battle.
The Trojans will arrive on the road behind QB Caleb Williams who is on track to once again potentially win the Heisman trophy. The USC offensive attack is phenomenal both through the air and on the ground, which makes them difficult to match up against. The issue for this team lies in the secondary, where too often they will allow for big plays that could be their achilles heel in this game.
For Notre Dame, the arrival of QB Sam Hartman has played a big part in the team’s success so far but RB Audric Estime keeps them as a dangerously balanced attack that is nearly impossible to gameplan for. Hartman is going to be key in this one, though, as the Fighting Irish will need to be able to go score for score if they hope to knock off the Trojans here for a huge victory.
Writer’s Pick: USC -4.5
In what will be the most anticipated game of the week, the matchup of Sam Hartman vs Caleb Williams will get the large chunk of attention. It won’t be easy, but the Trojans offensive attack should be enough to pull ahead in this game by enough to cover the 4.5 college football point spread.
BYU Cougars at TCU Horned Frogs (Oct. 14th)
Spread: TCU -3.5
Analysis: After a Week 1 defeat to the Colorado Buffaloes, the Horned Frogs have recovered well and appear to have regained rhythm and positioned themselves as a great team. Now they play host to a sneaky BYU program in what should make for a great game. QB Chandler Morris does a nice job keeping the offense in rhythm while RB Emani Bailey is able to make big plays on the ground. TCU is plenty capable of beating anyone, but they’ll have their work cut out for them here against BYU.
QB Kedon Slovis has had quite the journey through his college career but has settled in nicely as the BYU quarterback and the offensive line of the Cougars helps create opportunities. They’ve been tested during the season, including a big win over Arkansas in Week 3. Now against TCU, they’ll be in for another close contest.
Writer’s Pick: BYU +3.5
The Horned Frogs are a very good team, and they should be able to go head to head with anyone. However, the Cougars are one of the more underrated teams in the country. They should be able to cover this spread with a chance to win in this one as well.

UCLA Bruins at Oregon State Beavers (Oct. 14th)
Spread: Oregon State -4.5
Analysis: The Beavers are one of the country’s best teams and play host in what should be a highly-contested affair against UCLA in Week 7. QB DJ Uiagalelei has fit like a glove in this offense helping take the team to another level but it’s RB Damien Martinez who is the star of the show. The Beavers also have a very dependable defense that is bound to cause headaches for any opposing team.
UCLA arrives in Corvallis hoping to score a big victory and get back in position to compete in the PAC 12. QB Dante Moore has come into his own as the passer of this offense and Head Coach Chip Kelly is consistently going to field a competitive team. The defense for UCLA will need to come up big in this one as star DE Laiatu Latu will need to generate pressure in order to get this Beaver offense out of rhythm and set the Bruins up for success.
Writer’s Pick: Oregon State -4.5
In a PAC-12 battle between two very strong programs, there is promise of a great game to look forward to. However, the Beavers have the talent on both sides of the football to pull away with this one, expect them to win and cover because of that.

Missouri Tigers at Kentucky Wildcats (Oct. 14th)
Spread: Missouri -3.5
Analysis: The Missouri Tigers have been one of the surprise teams of the season up to this point as they head to Kentucky with an impressive 5-1 record following their first loss of the season last week to LSU. WR Luther Burden III is the star of this team offensively, as he’s nearly impossible to account for. On top of that, the Tigers have one of the more impressive defensive units in the country that offers plenty of experience and playmaking ability that should make them a tough beat for just about anyone in the country.
While Missouri is an impressive 5-1, the Wildcats have started out the year strong as well despite losing last weekend to the defending champion Georgia Bulldogs. QB Devin Leary was an outstanding addition through the transfer portal that has allowed this offense to flow under Offensive Coordinator Liam Coen, and the defense is plenty strong as well. Can Kentucky bounce back at home against this tough Missouri team?
Writer’s Pick: Missouri -3.5
The Missouri Tigers have really come together this season and should be able to continue that in this contest. Both of these programs will be looking to rebound after losses last week, but it should be the Tigers who prevail here despite being on the road.

Illinois Fighting Illini at Maryland Terrapins (Oct. 14th)
Spread: Maryland -2.5
Analysis: The Terrapins started out the season on fire reaching 5-0 on the season, but hit a bump in the road against the Buckeyes last weekend and now look to bounce back at home against Illinois. QB Taulia Tagovailoa and RB Roman Hemby have been the stars of this offense, and defensively they’ve shown out behind their extremely talented secondary. If the defense can limit Illinois’ passing attack, they should have a good chance to win.
Illinois has had their ups and downs through the first six weeks of the season but they’ve shown enough promise to still be one of the more competitive Big Ten programs. QB Luke Altmyer is the focal point of the offense, as when he is producing the offense is able to stay in rhythm. However, the defense of this team is what makes them a tough draw for anyone. It won’t be easy to beat Maryland, but the Fighting Illini are more than capable.
Writer’s Pick: Illinois ML
Illinois struggled out of the gates, but they appear to have regathered their momentum and should be able to head to Maryland and win this game against a tough Terrapins team. This one may not grab as many headlines, but expect it to be a tight contest.

Texas A&M Aggies at Tennessee Volunteers (Oct. 14th)
Spread: Tennessee -4.5
Analysis: The Volunteers entered the season with high expectations, but their Week 3 loss in primetime to Florida has taken the hype down a notch. Still, this team is very talented. WRs Ramel Keyton and Bru McCoy are big-time playmakers in the passing game, but QB Joe Milton will need to be more consistent from snap to snap in order to capitalize. Defensively, the Volunteers are very talented, and they’ll need to show up against the Aggies talented passing attack.
Similar to Tennessee, the Aggies were building up plenty of attention to start the season, but their Week 2 loss to Miami simmered the expectations surrounding them. Still, the Aggies have been successful in recruiting as of late, and they have the talent to match up with anyone at any time. QB Connor Wiegman has shown some nice promise through this part of the season, he’ll need to show out here if Texas A&M wants to take the victory.
Writer’s Pick: Tennessee -4.5
Both of these programs have the talent to compete with anyone but have had disappointing moments to this point in the season. Still, expect the Volunteers to control this game on the line of scrimmage and cover the spread at home.

Miami (FL) Hurricanes at North Carolina Tar Heels (Oct. 14th)
Spread: North Carolina -4.5
Analysis: QB Drake Maye is the headliner in this one as the star-studded passer is a Heisman candidate, a potential top draft pick, and a superstar at the college level. Maye has had a bit of a turnover bug, but it’s evident that the Tar Heels trust him to carry this team at all costs, and it’s worked to this point. Defensively, the linebacker duo of Cedric Gray and Power Echols have helped this team limited the opposition and have helped this team remain undefeated up to this point in the season. Now they host Miami in hopes of reaching 6-0.
For the Hurricanes, the offensive line has played a huge part in their early-season success and now this team is a potential candidate to compete for the ACC, but they’ll need to prove themselves against the Tar Heels in order to fully establish themselves as contenders. QB Tyler Van Dyke has been highly efficient as a passer which has helped open up this offense, now, he’ll need to match with one of the country’s best passers in order to beat North Carolina.
Writer’s Pick: Miami (FL) +4.5
North Carolina has been hot to this point in the season, but they’ve gotten by against teams that don’t have the offensive firepower to match. The Hurricanes appear to be one of the more well-rounded teams in the ACC, and this one should be tight as a result. don’t be surprised if they even potentially escape with the upset.

Oregon Ducks at Washington Huskies (Oct. 14th)
Spread: Washington -3
Analysis: In a battle between two Pac-12 juggernauts, the Ducks travel to Washington is what is going to be one of the top games of the week. With major conference implications on the line, you won’t want to miss this.
The Huskies play host to Oregon here in Week 7 on track to a special season as they currently sit at 6-0 on the season, with the potential to make playoffs should they withstand their remaining schedule. The team is more than capable of doing it, as their offense is filled with weapons surrounding Heisman contending QB Michael Penix Jr. On top of their offensive success, they have the defense to match with one of the best front seven units in the country. The Huskies are one of the best teams in the country, but Oregon can say the same for themselves.
QB Bo Nix will need to be on his A-game in this one for the Ducks to go on the road and secure a victory, but the passing attack has been on point all season with WR Troy Franklin operating as his go to weapon to this point. On the defensive side of things, the Ducks have an impressive defensive line that should help take Penix Jr out of rhythm, but it won’t be easy.
Writer’s Pick: Washington -3
In what will be one of the tightest games in Week 7, roll with the Huskies here as they get the advantage of playing at home. Whoever wins this game will need to be producing at a high level in order to pull it out, but that’s what makes this game all the more exciting.

Iowa Hawkeyes at Wisconsin Badgers (Oct. 14th)
Spread: Iowa PK
Analysis: Behind QB Cade McNamara, the Iowa offense has appeared to be much more efficient from week to week, which was their achilles heel last season. The defense remains to be the strength of this program that will allow them to go head to head with anyone, but can they match up with the Badgers balanced attack to potentially pull this one out? The pressure will be felt by the offense to produce and match the Badgers in order to secure a big Week 7 victory.
For Wisconsin, year one under new Head Coach Luke Fickell appears to be on the right track behind QB Tanner Mordecai and the RB duo of Braelon Allen and Chez Mellusi. The Badgers have had their share of tests so far and mostly prevailed, but even at home the Hawkeyes will present a tough challenge.
Writer’s Pick: Iowa PK
This game could hold a lot of weight in the Big Ten West end of season standings, and that’s why oddsmakers are keeping this one tight. Wisconsin however has had their struggles that could help the Hawkeyes pull this one out and score a major victory on the season.
