College Football Week 12 (Nov. 14th-Nov. 18th) Spread Analysis & Match Up Overview
There isn’t a team in college football that hasn’t been tested at some point this season, but there are still plenty of teams who still have some difficult matchups on their schedule. Here are some of the top contests to look out for in Week 12.
Colorado Buffaloes at Washington State Cougars (Nov. 17th)
Spread: Washington State -6.5
Analysis: The Buffaloes travel to Pullman for a late-night game against a quality Washington State ballclub. The headliner of this roster remains QB Shedeur Sanders and WR/CB Travis Hunter, who have helped add an identity to this team, but there is plenty of firepower on the offensive end for Colorado to score against anyone. Defensively, however, the team will need to step up against a potentially dangerous offense.
For Washington State, the team is centered around star QB Cameron Ward. The team started out the season with an impressive 4-0 start but then dropped three games following that. They’ve started to get back on track and have secured bowl eligibility, but that shouldn’t detract from their focus against a great team here on Friday night.
Writer’s Pick: Colorado +6.5
Friday Night of Week 12 promises to be a good one in a tight contest between two programs. While the quarterback play could be the determining factor in this outcome, the Buffaloes have shown the ability to go against some quality teams. They should at least keep this one tight for an action-packed Pac-12 matchup.

Kansas State Wildcats at Kansas Jayhawks (Nov. 18th)
Spread: Kansas State -4.5
Analysis: The Jayhawks have had their successes this season, but the large headline surrounding the year has been the injury battles that have sidelined star QB Jalon Daniels.
Head Coach Lance Leipold has continued to keep the team thriving, and backup QB Jason Bean has stepped in well to keep the offense in rhythm. This Kansas team has the capabilities to go against some of the best teams in the country, so can they score an upset against their in-state rivals to notch a big late-season victory?
For the Wildcats, the team had some tough losses in the first half of the season. However, those troubles that cost them games seem to be in the rearview mirror as the offense has started to adopt a 2-QB system between veteran Will Howard and freshman Avery Johnson to keep defenses off-balance.
The Wildcats have plenty of experience on the offensive line and defense as well to help them take control and win games as a result. Now, in the Border War, the Wildcats look to knock off their rival and secure a big win in Week 12.
Writer’s Pick: Kansas +4.5
This one should be exciting, but the Jayhawks have the firepower and offensive efficiency to keep this one tight. With a 4.5-point mulligan, Kansas should be able to cover. It will, however, require RB Devin Neal to find a way to produce on the ground.
Florida Gators at Missouri Tigers (Nov. 18th)
Spread: Missouri -3
Analysis: The Missouri Tigers have been one of this season’s overachievers from preseason expectations, and they’ve come from a surprise team to one that is now well respected and won’t be taken lightly.
A large part of that should be attributed to the high-powered passing connection between QB Brady Cook and WR Luther Burden II. Then, defensively, the Tigers roster is filled with experienced, high-caliber players that can limit numerous opposing offenses.
After dropping the season opener to Utah, the Gators season seemed to be spiraling, but they shook off the loss and regrouped behind their impressive running back tandem in Montrell Johnson and Trevor Etienne. The Gators defense has done a nice job limiting the opposition, so this one could be a low-scoring affair, and Florida is more than capable of winning a grudge match.
Writer’s Pick: Missouri -3
This contest should be an extremely defensive-oriented affair, and while that could bode well for the Gators rushing attack. It also bodes well for the Tigers defense, who should be able to limit Florida and pull this one out as a result.

Louisville Cardinals at Miami (FL) Hurricanes (Nov. 18th)
Spread: Miami (FL) -1
Analysis: The arrival of Head Coach Jeff Brohm is off to a phenomenal start for the Cardinals, as he has gotten this offense in rhythm behind QB Jack Plummer and RB Jawhar Jordan. The team now enters a tough two-game stretch to end their regular season schedule, and that starts with a tough Hurricanes squad. It won’t be easy, but the Cardinals have proven to be plenty capable of pulling tough games out.
Head Coach Mario Cristobal is in his second season leading the Hurricanes, and while it hasn’t been perfect, it’s clear that Miami is working back toward being one of the top programs in college football, and they’ve looked very good this season. Coming off of a loss to Florida State last week, the Hurricanes could have an extra chip on their shoulder as they head into this key ACC contest.
Writer’s Pick: Miami (FL) -1
This could be one of the most underrated games on the Week 12 slate, but it should be plenty exciting. The Hurricanes should be able to control this one in the trenches and take home a big victory in conference to help Mario Cristobal fully establish that “The U” is back.

Georgia Bulldogs at Tennessee Volunteers (Nov. 18th)
Spread: Georgia -13.5
Analysis: The Bulldogs look business as usual through the first ten games of their schedule as Head Coach Kirby Smart has the team looking well on track to compete for their third straight national title.
RB Daijun Edwards is the focal point of this offense as he has been extremely dependable on the ground, but QB Carson Beck has shown promising improvement through the season to help the passing game step up when needed. Against a stout Tennessee defense, he could be called upon to have a big game.
For the Volunteers, they have one of the best chances to upset Georgia this season with all the talent they have throughout their roster. QB Joe Milton has tremendous potential as a passer, but with his supporting cast and quality offensive line, the team can put up the necessary points.
The defense is filled with experienced players who could create a couple of turnovers to bring luck in their favor, could it be enough to pull off a big-time upset against College Football’s Goliath?
Writer’s Pick: Georgia -13.5
The Bulldogs just have too much working in their favor not to roll within this contest. Is there upset potential? Sure, but Kirby Smart has been wildly dominant as of late, and Georgia should be able to take control of this one in a similar fashion.

Michigan Wolverines at Maryland Terrapins (Nov. 18th)
Spread: Michigan -16.5
Analysis: Despite the controversy surrounding the program, the Wolverines remain one of the best teams in College Football with legitimate potential to compete for a national title. RB Blake Corum has been the engine of the offense, but QB JJ McCarthy and WR Roman Wilson have formed one of the most dominant connections in the country to produce at a high level. They can’t lose focus against a sneaky Maryland team, but the Wolverines have a chance to dominate in this one.
The Terrapins have put together a strong season to this point, with QB Taulia Tagovailoa leading the way offensively. The defense has also impressed through this point in the season behind a very talented secondary led by CB Tarheeb Still and S Beau Brade.
Writer’s Pick: Michigan -16.5
It’s unfortunate for a good Maryland ball club, but they likely won’t be able to keep this one close against a very strong Michigan program. Roll with the Wolverines to get ahead early and control this game throughout, covering the large spread as a result.

North Carolina Tar Heels at Clemson Tigers (Nov. 18th)
Spread: Clemson -2
Analysis: QB Drake Maye has led the way for the offense, and despite arriving midway through the season, WR Devontez Walker has become his go-to target and a superstar weapon for this program. Their loss to Virginia still sits on the minds of many when trying to fully buy-in, but they’ve proven all season that the performance appeared to be more fluke than substantial concern.
For the Clemson Tigers, the team just can’t seem to get their progress to full-throttle. For their tradition, the record is disappointing compared to their once-consistent title contention.
However, ending the season with some big victories could set them up for a big season in 2024/25. QB Cade Klubnik will need to play a big role in their possible victory, though, as the young passer has shown promise but has yet to take the next step.
Writer’s Pick: North Carolina ML
Despite the talent that Clemson has on their roster, the Tar Heels offensive capabilities should be able to help them prevail in this one. Head Coach Mack Brown has had some success against the Tigers, so don’t be shocked if they go on the road and score a big victory.

Texas Longhorns at Iowa State Cyclones (Nov. 18th)
Spread: Texas -6.5
Analysis: Following the injury to QB Quinn Ewers, the Longhorns have had their troubles but ultimately have prevailed thanks to RB Jonathan Brooks and their stellar defense. The Longhorns now hit the road to face off against an underachieving yet sneaky Iowa State team that could easily smell of a trap game if Texas doesn’t come in with their full focus.
Head Coach Steve Sarkisian has the chops to get this offense producing, but it could be harder in a tough environment.
For Iowa State, the team seemed to be on track for a rough season after dropping two of their first three games of the season. However, Head Coach Matt Campbell did a nice job getting the team back in focus, and as a result, they’ve turned in an admirable season up to this point. Now at home in Week 12, the program is itching to pull out a big-time win against a highly-touted Texas team. It won’t be easy, but the Cyclones are plenty capable.
Writer’s Pick: Tuexas -6.5
The Longhorns will need to come into this week fully focused, or the Cyclones could pull this one off, but Texas seems to have the roster talent and overall firepower to squeeze out wins in trap games like this one appears to be.

Washington Huskies at Oregon State Beavers (Nov. 18th)
Spread: Washington -12.5
Analysis: Things haven’t been easy, but the Huskies have managed to get by unscathed heading into Week 12 as they enter the final weeks in their pursuit of reaching the College Football Playoff. QB Michael Penix Jr has been lights out all season, surrounded by star WRs like Rome Odunze and Ja’Lynn Polk.
The Washington defense also deserves heaps of credit for their play through the year as well. Now, the focus goes to the Beavers, where the team must travel to Oregon State to pull off yet another impressive victory. If they can do it, though, the chance of a playoff appearance becomes that much more likely.
Oregon State has turned in a great season to this point but gets the unfortunate luck of ending the season against arguably the two toughest Pac-12 teams with Washington and Oregon back to back. For now, the attention is on the Huskies. The Beavers offensive line is extremely impressive behind OTs Taliese Fuaga and Joshua Gray. If the offense can keep in rhythm, they could potentially find a way to play spoiler to the Huskies championship aspirations.
Writer’s Pick: Washington -12.5
For as good as both teams are in this contest, the Huskies just have it all working for them right now. It’s hard to believe that the Pac-12 won’t find a way to take each other out of the College Football Playoff like usual, but Washington is one of the best teams in the nation, and it’d be hard to ever bet against them.

UCLA Bruins at USC Trojans (Nov. 18th)
Spread: USC -7.5
Analysis: For a team with such high preseason expectations, the Trojans have crashed and burned as of late, and they now head into their regular-season finale with a lack of fire that we’ve often seen from the late-season Trojans. QB Caleb Williams turned in a great season, but with USC out of the playoff picture, it could be very possible we see freshman QB Malachi Nelson under center in this contest.
The issue for the Trojans remains the achilles heel of Lincoln Riley’s career, and that’s Defensive Coordinator Alex Grinch. However, scoring a win against rival UCLA could do a nice job of restoring optimism for the program.
For UCLA, the pressure will lie on Freshman QB Dante Moore to be able to step up and perform to the level that the Trojans offense has this season. While the Bruins defense and other pieces of the offense will need to play well, this could be a great chance for Moore to fully establish himself as a future star in college football and build hype around his 2024/25 sophomore campaign.
Writer’s Pick: USC -7.5
Whoever lines up under center for USC should be able to find success and put up points against a talented but beatable UCLA team. Head Coach Lincoln Riley will need to make changes this offseason if there is hope for USC to make the jump to a legitimate contender, but for now, a nice win to cap off the regular season is a good step to restoring confidence.
