Masters Snooker 2024: Player Predictions and Odds
Ronnie O’Sullivan has rarely been better priced to be the tournament winner than he is right now. He’s available at attractive odds to win the Masters, the World Championship and the UK Championship in the 2023/24 season.
If you’ve been following snooker at all for the last year, you won’t be majorly surprised by this. Ronnie’s form was erratic in 2022/23. He was dumped out of the World Championship in the quarter final, and fell at the same hurdle in the Masters to Mark Williams.
Ronnie has frequently spoken about his battles with mental health. When he isn’t up for it, he isn’t worth backing.
However, now is the time to start backing Ronnie for the Masters if you’re in two minds about him. If he starts 2023/24 with a bang, his odds will quickly shorten and you may regret not betting on him at 4/1. If he’s hungry and wants more titles, practically no one would be able to stop him.
Like Ronnie, Judd Trump didn’t exactly have a spectacular 2022/23 season. The Ace in the Pack might have landed the Masters at Alexandra Palace but it came – as he himself admitted – despite some pretty poor play.
Even after landing the Masters trophy, Trump’s misery on the green continued and he failed to make it past the first round at the World Championship.
Like Ronnie, Judd is impossible to play against when he’s on it. His fans and backers will be hoping he returns to the table fresh and reinvigorated after the summer break and there’s no doubt that he has enough talent to – like Ronnie – beat anyone on his day.
5/1 is an excellent price for Trump to defend his title. But one thing is for sure – he surely can’t expect to somehow stumble over the line two years on the spin. He will need to bring his A-game this time around.
The bookies have priced Neil Robertson as the third favourite to win the Masters snooker 2024.
Robertson’s 2022/23 season was interesting to say the least. He reached four tour semi-finals, including the English Open, but he didn’t make it past the first round in five other tournaments. In other words, Robertson either went hard or went home.
So what can we expect this time around from the Thunder from Down Under?
Robertson won the 2022 Masters, so he obviously has form here. In 2023, he didn’t make it past the first round – and he also didn’t make it past the first round in 3 out of his last 4 appearances The only time he did make it past the first round was when he won it.
We think backing Robertson is a bit of a long shot. But we also love a dark horse – and we think the Aussie world number 6 could be a real dark horse come January.
Shaun Murphy started his 2023/24 season with real intent, winning the Champions League in July. It was a statement from the Magician, who had fancied himself going into the World Championship 2023 before he was unceremoniously knocked out in the first round (9-10).
It was a setback for a snooker player who’s been on the comeback trail after an operation to reduce his weight.
We like the look of Murphy right now. He was thrashed 0-6 by Stuart Bingham at the Masters 2023 but he still had a solid season overall, picking up two titles and getting his world rankings back up to 7.
His 10/1 price makes him a bit of an outsider but – as we know in snooker – that doesn’t always count for a lot. Murphy is one of those guys who can compete with the best of them and we think he’ll be a contender.
We also think his price may shorten over the coming weeks if – as expected – he has a solid 2023/24 season. This ultimately means 10/1 may be a steal.
Like a lot of snooker players, it’s hard to know what to expect from Mark Selby. The Jester from Leicester made it all the way to the World Championship final in May 2023 and was the big favourite.
Yet he lost 15-18 to outsider Luca Brecel and admitted afterwards that he had almost quit the game previously due to personal issues.
The thing with Selby is that he’s one of the best – if not the best – players in the world. He loves to grind a result out and doesn’t care how long it takes. He has 22 titles to his name, including 4 World Championship victories, and probably doesn’t even need to still be playing snooker.
The fact he is still giving it a go suggests he still wants more. After his 2022/23 campaign ended in the ultimate disappointment, we expect Selby to be back at it this year, hungry for titles – and now might be the time to start getting behind him at such long odds.
Guide to Snooker Betting: Ways to Bet on the Masters
Snooker can be an exciting sport to bet on because there are so many different bet types you can place which enhance your enjoyment of the game.
In this section, we’ll be exploring the most popular snooker bets you can place at the Masters.
This one is fairly straightforward – you’re betting on the snooker player you think will win the Masters.
The snooker odds for this have already been released and you can bet on the outright winner months in advance, and you can still bet on the outright winner once the tournament has started.
Moneyline betting is when you bet on a player to win their individual match (such as Judd Trump to win his first round match).
Moneyline betting in snooker (and indeed in all sports) is tricky if you’re just backing the favourite because the odds aren’t always great (often the favourite is odds-on).
Instead, moneyline betting during the Masters and other snooker tournaments is better when you’re backing the underdog. If you can sniff out an upset – such as Ronnie to lose in the first round – it might be worth going with your instinct.
When it comes to individual matches, the frame handicap can be a lucrative snooker bet because it always comes with better odds than the moneyline.
With the frame handicap bet, you’re betting on a player to win their match by X number of frames.
For example, if you bet on Ronnie O’Sullivan (-2.5) in his first round match, the Rocket would need to win by three clear frames (such as 6-1) in order for you to win your bet.
The risk with this one is obvious but the rewards come in the form of generous odds.
Totals betting is when you bet on the number of frames you think a Masters snooker match will consist of.
Let’s say Ronnie O’Sullivan is playing Mark Williams in the first round and you think the match will go right to the wire. In this case, you can bet on over 11.5 frames, which means the match needs to contain at least 12 frames for you to win your bet.
Or, let’s say you think Mark Selby will trash his opponent in the first round. In this scenario, you might bet on under 7.5 frames.
Totals betting is especially useful for when you can’t predict the winner but you have a strong feeling there’ll be lots of frames.

Best Snooker Betting Tips
Sign-up to Multiple Betting Sites
We highly recommend that you join a handful of different top-rated betting sites. This is because doing so means you’ll be able to shop around for odds each time you want to place a snooker bet and therefore place your bets at the best available price.
You’ll also find that different sportsbooks offer different markets, which opens up a range of betting opportunities for you.
Claim the Deposit Bonuses
The best snooker sportsbooks like LuckLand get you started with a deposit bonus. This usually looks something like a “bet £10 get £10” offer and it essentially gives you a bonus bet on the house.
Claiming deposit bonuses is easy and usually you just need to make a qualifying deposit and place a qualifying bet.
Set a Bankroll
Bettors will do well to set a bankroll, which is the amount of money you’ve set aside specifically for online sports betting.
By setting a bankroll, it’ll be much easier to stay in control, as well as to set a staking strategy because you’ll know exactly what you’ve got to work with.
For example, you could use some of your bankroll betting on the Masters tournament winner, while saving some of it for individual matches, such as the semi finals.
Ignore the World Rankings
We always think that world rankings mean little when it comes to a high-pressure snooker event like the Masters. Over the past few years, it’s often the case that, while some high-ranking snooker players dazzle, others fall by the wayside.
A good case in point is Luca Brecel, who won the 2023 World Championship, despite being a huge outsider. Neil Robertson, meanwhile, didn’t make it past the first round.
Instead, it’s a smarter idea to carefully watch the games and see how the players are faring. Who’s coming into the tournament in-form? Who’s looking jaded?
In-play snooker betting lets you bet on matches that have already started. You can bet on the match winner, the frame handicap, the next frame winner, the first session winner and more.
In-play betting can be a profitable venture if you’re watching a game of snooker and think you can spot when something is about to happen. It also lets you take advantage of some huge odds.
For example, if the favourite is, say, trailing 0-40 in a frame, you could bet on them to make a comeback. Provided they get to return to the table, there’s every chance that these types of bets can prove profitable.
