The Football Pink is a collection of writers, bloggers, illustrators and photographers who bring their opinions, musings, observations and stories from all over the world to fans of ‘The Beautiful Game’ via articles and podcasts. We used to produce an independently published quarterly print magazine that was shortlisted twice (in 2015 and 2018) for fanzine of the year at the Football Supporters Federation Awards.
We are always happy to hear from anyone looking to share their work and ideas with our audience, especially in a long-form, historical, topical, unusual and insightful manner. We can’t pay you for being involved but our track record and reputation has assured we are a respected source of original football content that has been viewed by the millions who have visited our website since 2012. Many of our past and current contributors have gone on to be published and work in larger and mainstream media outlets so if you think you belong here, your work will get noticed.
To blow our own trumpet, we won the Best Established Blog Award at The 2015 Football Blogging Awards as voted for by an esteemed panel of judges including the BBC’s Sports anchor Dan Walker, John Cross of the Daily Mirror, Neil Ashton of the Daily Mail and The Guardian’s Owen Gibson. We were shortlisted once again in the same category for the 2019 Football Blogging Awards.
Founding Editor Mark Godfrey has guested on websites such as The Guardian, When Saturday Comes, In Bed With Maradona, World Soccer, These Football Times and Back Page Football amongst others as well as featuring in several magazines and papers like When Saturday Comes, Pickles, Nutmeg, The Scotsman, When Skies Are Grey and Late Tackle.
In October 2019, Ronnie Dog Media acquired The Football Pink and will continue to publish the style of content that Pink has become known for in the past.
