5 Amazing Activities for Football Fans to Do on Matchday

Who (what, where, why) are ya: Can you support multiple teams?

For football fans, there’s no greater feeling than waking up on a Saturday morning matchday. Whether your club is in the Premier League, Championship, League 1, or League 2, the butterflies you get in the build-up to kick-off are unbelievable. Football, ey, where would the world be without it?

Of course, matchday kick-off times vary. Some games start at 12:30, others at 3:00, and then the evening games are up last. So, rather than nervously twiddling your thumbs waiting for the action to begin, here are 5 amazing activities for all footballs fans to do on matchdays.

1.    Plan some bets

Betting is a historic and much-loved part of football culture, which is why millions of fans place bets each week.

Not only does betting give you an opportunity to test your in-game knowledge, it adds an extra layer of excitement to the occasion. Honestly, you can’t beat the buzz that comes with it.

Prior to kick-off, you should open up your betting app and place some smart bets, from your final score predictions to which players you think will score or assist.

Also, football isn’t the only sport you can bet on. In fact, there are lots of other cool and interesting sports out there, such as college basketball. Learn more about college basketball betting.

2.    See what football Twitter is saying

Modern football is all about Twitter.

Every week, fans gather on Twitter to engage in banter, score predictions, and everything else in-between. No matter what happens, you can guarantee by the end of the day that the trending topics will involve wanting a manager sacked; or demands for particular owners to leave a club. It’s hilarious, and it’s what makes football Twitter’s reactionary nature so fun to watch!

If you don’t have a Twitter account, you can make one in seconds. You could even dedicate your account to your favourite club or player to remain anonymous, as a lot of fans like to do this.

When matchday arrives, make sure you check what’s trending on football Twitter. Also, make sure to tweet out your thoughts and predictions – other fans will be sure to engage with you!

3.    Visit your club’s store

If you’re a super passionate fan who goes to watch your club play week-in and week-out, you should visit your club’s store on matchday. This way, you can stock up on all the merchandise you need, from the latest shirts to accessories. Even if you don’t want to buy anything on matchday, club stores are great places to hang out with other fans and browse around for a little while before kick-off.

4.    Switch-up your fantasy team

Have you played Fantasy Premier League before? If not, you need to sign up ASAP!

Fantasy Football is available through the official Premier League app. Every matchday, you can customize your Premier League starting 11 based on which players you think will perform well that specific week. The more goals and assists you get, the higher your points total will go!

Here are some Fantasy Premier League tips.

5.    Watch Football Focus on Soccer Saturday

Matchday is incomplete without watching Football Focus or Soccer Saturday. After all, Alex Scott (Football Focus) and Jeff Stelling (Soccer Saturday) are superb presenters who will help to get you in the perfect mood. Plus, they’ll provide all the insight into the day’s games you could possibly need.
